You nice folks at ProjectorCentral measure it for other projectors. I would love your technical comparison against the Optoma HD25/LV. Fan Noise - In Eco mode, fan noise is very low, but in normal mode, it is loud enough to be a distraction.

CEC an HDMI feature should allow this projector to be controlled from other devices that are CEC equipped. The remote of the PJD7820HD does not have any obvious control buttons for other devices, but CEC can be turned on from the menus. Also of note, as a typical portable DLP projector there’s no filter to change out.
Warm-up only takes a minute or so, and with automatic search enabled, it is quick and easy to get an image on the screen. Just push the Source key or select a specific input from the separate keys at the top of the remote. Home video projectors can take up a fair amount of space, but with a sheet-of-paper footprint of only 10 ½" x 8 ¾", the PJD7820HD fits on a coffee table with ease. This Viewsonic does offer digital zoom capability from the button on the remote control.

It can even be loud enough to overwhelm the PJD7820HD's internal speaker during quiet moments. For a weekend crowd at home, you will probably need to use an external sound system, but this is due more to the weakness of the internal speaker than the fan noise. Menu Selection and Navigation - There are six menus for the PJD7820HD, but they are easy to navigate. Most of the settings you are likely to need are found in the Display and Picture menus, and the dual User modes allow you to store two sets of preferred settings.
Keep in mind that colors can vary from projector to projector, even with the same model, so it's a good idea to use these settings as a baseline for your own calibration. Regarding my set-up, I'm using a single 25' HDMI cable, which I bought for $7. The Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS800 is a 4,000-lumen 4K PRO-UHD ultra short throw home theater projector. But despite these limitations, the PJD7820HD is an affordable, portable, fully 3D projector that can light up a living room for an afternoon of fun. The PJD7820HD is a capable home video projector, and it is nice to have another inexpensive option to choose from. Full HD 3D - The PJD7820HD has full HD 3D compatibility, so you can connect it to a Blu-ray player or broadcast 3D source and it will display that content correctly. If you have any frame sequential 3D content, the PJD7820HD can handle it as well.
Fortunately I have several pair of DLP-Link glasses here, so used a pair of BenQ glasses, and some 3rd party ones. DLP-Link glasses are oft called “universal” glasses as they will work on any DLP-Link projector. One thing we like to comment on, and that’s whether you can change out the lamp on a projector when it is ceiling mounted. It can be a real pain to unmount the projector, and then have to remount and align it again. As expected, the Viewsonic lamp is behind a lamp cover accessible from the top of the projector, so no problem. Using the provided USB port, connecting to your computer the Viewsonic’s remote can take on basic remote mousing functions with the arrow keys.
